any poppy seed and farina lovers besides me around here ?

if yes this could be something for you...

maybe for breakfast, maybe for coffee time, maybe just because ...

poppy seed semolina souffle with strawberry sauce:

2 eggs, 100 g sugar, 1 teaspoon grated orange peel organic,
125 g  semolina, 30 g poppy seed, ground, 500 ml milk,  1 tsp icing sugar

Pitch eggs and sugar frothy with a hand mixer (min. 5 min.) .
Stir in orange zest, semolina and poppy seed  give and pour into
a greased baking dish. Back in  the preheated oven at 180 degrees
for 25 minutes. Boil the milk and pour over the casserole.
Then bake for another 5 minutes. Dust with icing sugar and add some ...

...(easy) Strawberry sauce:

1 lb strawberries, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp fresh lemon juice

peel the strawberries, cut, leave 3 tablespoons and puree the rest,
add sugar, vanilla and lemon juice and the leftover
strawberry pieces

Poppyseed & Semolina Flan with cherry compote :

500ml milk, 4EL sugar, 20g poppy seeds, 65g semolina, 1 egg

Let the milk boil together with the sugar. Add Semolina and poppy seeds, allow to swell for
5 minutes at very low heat and, stirring frequently. Separate the egg and whisk the yolks
together with the semolina mixture, allow to cool slightly. After that whisk the egg whites
until stiff and add it to the mixture. I used silicon molds for the flan, cover and put in the
refrigerator at least 2 hours.

I used cherry compote from the super market, in Germany it`s quite a typical dessert called "Rote Grütze"
if you like to make homemade one, this could be a good recipe:

Heat a cup sour cherry juice, juice of half a lemon, 1 stick cinnamon,  and 3 tablespoons brown sugar,
when it boils add 2 tablespoon cornstarch and let it boil again, after that add 1 cup pitted cherries
and let it cool down.

( By the way I actually heard rumours that people think you can get high on eating
poppy seeds!? ,but you can rest asured poppy seed cake is a traditional cake over here and
we eat it legally en masse, in every kind of variation, you can buy it in every bakery and
I didn`t noticed anyone getting high... just slightly getting addicted ...; )
