Adventsbasteln mit Naturmaterialien/ advent crafting with natural materials- DIY.

was unterwegs so gefunden wurde. Jedes Jahr ein bisschen was anderes.

Advent is here, actually the second is already over! I hope you have been able to spend a few days relaxed and somehow a bit contemplative.
In our house, the time is currently quite running  (especially since I am just back home from hospital with an operation , which was briefly inserted !?),
So please how quickly was it now the pre-christmas time !?

To spend the hours a little more quietly together, we have here and there a few small, cozy traditions. In addition to the common cookie backing, we decorate  the house with things we find while our walks outside in nature.
Such as branches, cones, beechnuts, etc. and of course that's great for one or the other DIY project;) ... (Win Win- you'll find me)

So our annual Advent wreath consists of simple brass stars for binding,
different sized candles, a tree trunk and there it is simply packed on it,
what was found on the way outside. Every year a little something different.

In another project, we made these little cone hedgehogs .
It was super easy and the girls love them.

Simply cut a small circle of felt, cut it in half, glue as a cone and
mark small eyes. Then glue to whole thing to the front of the pins,
as well as 5 wooden beads for nose and feet.

ready to play and decorate!

By the way, right back there, you can see our advent calendar in the backyard, it 's the
Felt house calendar from last year, which was refilled)

We also made wreaths from beechnuts, simple but beautiful, as well as the little beechnutbells. Just stick a little bell in it, which makes a pretty thing for its own or as a pendant for the Christmas tree or gifts, as well as a garland.

Unsere ätherischen Lieblingsöle dazu sind u.a. Orange, Weihrauch, Nelke, Ingwer, Vanille und ein bisschen Zimt.

Ja so zieht etwas Besinnlichkeit ein.

The great thing about this natural materials is that you can also add a few drops of essential oils on the rough surface of the cones or beechnuts and so this decoration at the same time smells really nice like Christmas. For this our favorite essential oils are  orange, frankincense, clove, ginger, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon.

Yes, that brings quite some contemplation .

But the most important thing for me is to have the Christmas story alive in my heart, the story of my God, who opens up to be with the people, to love them, to heal and to liberate them. And this not just on Christmas,
but a God who wants to be close to us every day.

So have a beautiful advent time, friends!

Aufwiedersehen lieber Sommer / ach und Hallo Herz ;)!

(sorry this time just in German, for any translation you can use the right sidebar)

She is tender, sweet and easygoing and we love her

I think now and then you will here more from her and of course
also from us !

a shorttrip and a word .

lit`s time to start off the new year in this space, right !?

we escaped after celebrating Christmas with family and friends
to one of our favorite spots, the Elbsandsteingebirge and Dresden.

and because the weather was unusual warm we did try out some
winter camping for the first time.

It was a fun and cozy family time.
so this won`t be the last time camping in winter for sure.

I love these special times, being close together cozied up in the caravan
and also being a lot outside in nature.
I love to walk and I love to think in between all of this.

I`m not a big fan of resolutions. But I like the chance of new beginnings.
so I always go with a word for the new year.

this year it is going to be the word:

rooted.

this is just for me, a faith thing, something quite personal.

in the last one or two years there were a lot of chapters
were the word trust became important to me.

if you had ask me before, I would have said " Sure I trust..."
But then there came some struggles, health stuff and fear tried to creep in
at this point of time. I new I had to make a decision.
will I be moved like a wave or try to learn to find rest even in a storm.

I searched God, his heart and view on things and he gave me rest, he gave me his peace.

The last two years really molded me, it wasn`t easy but its was worth the journey.
because it lead me to my roots, that are not grounded  on things I am or I can achieve,
I found my roots in Gods promises and his love for me more than ever before.

I feel grounded in him I feel rooted.

I don`t know what the year will bring, but everything will be just fine.

goodbye summer.

just a few pictures to say farewell to good old summer time.

i hope all of you enjoyed a full and happy summer.

ours was good and somehow felt like a looong holiday.

what happens if you could live each day like it would be a day off/ a free day?

after our summer holiday trip, Andi and I spoke about the fact that it´s
kind of weired to always live towards the weekend, being happy on Friday
because weekend is almost there and being kind of grumpy on Mondays.
Somehow it´s comprehensible, because for sure you have more time
/ time together on weekends . But some inner attitudes are up to us.

So for this summer we decided to  try to live each day like a free day in mind.
Of course we went to work and also had to do all other duties, but we reduced
some really unnecessary mind stress and kind of tried
to celebrate and be thankful for each day just a tiny bit more.

So we had many spontaneous trips and picnics outdoors
and sometimes stayed a up a bit way to long.
we took our caravan and lived with our friends and kids at the river side,
for several weeks ( and just went to work from there).
with just a few clothes and belongings in our traveling bag.

I tried to be more aware of each moment.
Staying in the now not planning so much ahead,
what makes life so much easier.

It mustn`t be a big thing, there is so much to be thankful for day by day,
a sunrise, a good breakfast, a kiss, a laugh, feeling the warm summer wind,
birdsongs, feet in the water, a good talk, sunset and long evenings...

I am a plan maker but more and more learning to put down my plans.

some times we just need to take the chances and live the moment.
so many things that are all worth it and other things that sometimes
get to much focus and can be put aside.

More and more I learn to really rest.
And I learn to rest in Gods good promises for my life and
enjoy the day because I know he is with me, he cares for me,
also in challenges and ups and downs, whatever may come.

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace

and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

So to say ... all this made this summer feel a bit like a long holiday.

There is enough thankfulness, rest and peace when we focus on the
right and good things in life.

So I hope I take this summer in my heart and have a bit of it
in each coming season.

Goodbye summer, you have been a good one!

catching up.

... how can it be August already !?
of course we are finally back  from our vacation trip,
and it was sooo good and I´m telling you very soon more about it.

( note: my phone internet doesn`t work properly anymore;
(, so I´m not up to date there at all)

life at the moment around here is busy, very busy,
but the good sort of busy, if you know what I mean.

having some extra business summer projects and also
some on our ever enduring "to do"- house renovating list,
not mentioning the other days being on the road with our caravan,
we got carried away with this summer.

it`s beautiful anyways. the days are full and the nights are long.
and we are soaking it all in.

I give my best to get back to a little bit of
blogging routine around here,
because there is so much to share...

I hope you enjoy your summer days!

our easter.

Hallo everybody,
hope you had some happy days off.

We definitely had, using the extra time to visit friends and family
and also some family time just the three of us.

sometimes there are weeks that feel like days,
and sometimes luckily there can be days that feel like weeks.

this Easter felt like these kind of days.

Oh and did I mention that winter came back,
hopefully for the last time this spring...
so the days felt even more extra cozy and intense, I guess;)...

as a tradition we made some personalized Easter chocolate barks.
Emmi looooves this little tradition of ours.
Wrapping and giving away in this way always means extra fun,
because the girl is quite proud on her handmade chocolate skills ;)

The whole process is pretty simple and fun for kids ( as you can see):
just wrap some plates with baking paper,
melt chocolate, pour it on the plate and then add some
extra colorful, seasonal  sweets to the mixture.

and of course the girl also enjoyed her own egg hunting "finds",
and was quite content with it, I think.

But even more than the gifts, she enjoys the whole process
of searching and finding things over and over again.

(we actually have that somehow now and then all year in her room
besides that ;)...

I for myself am extra thankful for the time we had this Easter.
Last year around that time I had to face severe nerve pain,
didn`t actually know when and how all will become better.

A real journey of trust was starting for me at this point of time.

and I`am so very happy and thankful, just for Gods big love and guidance through that journey.
and I know he has this is not only for me, it is the same for you.
He promised he will never leave or forsake anyone of us.
He walks next to us.

It has made me stronger.

Now one year later, I´m totally healed and off of any pain medication.

I have no words to describe how thankful I am.

happy easter (blessings).

Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the
heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.4 For he chose us in him before the
creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love5 he[b] predestined us
for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the
riches of God’s grace8 that he lavished on us.
(Ephesians 1, 3-8)

nothing to add. just too good but....... this is true !

happy easter and much love to everyone of you !

xxx

this is the day.

"This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it."
 ( Psalm 118,24 )

...thinking about these words lately a lot.

Because THIS is the day.
Not yesterday with its achievements,
not tomorrow where I may will reach another goal on my list.

 TODAY is the day,
also not yesterday with its failures,
because I can gladly live in the now,
all my past shortcomings are washed away forever:
"as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us"
( Psalm 103, 12 )
also I can enjoy the now,
not caring about the future because I know:
" Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself. "
( Matthew 6,34 )
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
 (1.Peter5,7)

This is making me content with my now.

Today may be the ordinary kind of day or it
maybe have some challenges in store for me.

But I know he made this day for me,
and will guide me in all situations,

so TODAY I will rejoice and be glad !

(linking up with faith filled Friday and beloved brews)

trust. (my new years goal)

Happy and blessed new year to you everyone !

so "trust" it is,
my chosen word for 2015.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

last year for me was a kind of year with drought and heat.
Actually I didn`t write a lot personal things,
because I had to process a lot of thoughts and still do.

I experienced not so easy times with a nerve inflammation,
burning nerve pain and inability to move my arms,
many doctors reports, pain medication and weired,
painful side effects.

being responsible for my family, my own business
and a few church things also, it felt too much.
to heavy for my aching shoulders.
I was carrying my problems- on m,y own...
anxiety, uncertainty and fear tried to take hold
inside of me.

The more doctors consulted, the more reports and
medication I got,the more
it seemed to get even worse.

I had to make a decision again.

cast my anxiety unto him.
decide where I would put my trust in.
let him care.

I thought I already lived in it.
But what I experienced that time went so much deeper.

I decided to take off all the pain and other medication,
which seemed to do me no good,

and instead trusting God for healing and relying on him.

The whole process wasn`t easy at first.
the first weeks or so it seemed to also get worse,
but I just tried to hold unto God and his promises.

and it started to become better day by day.

There are times we have to decide between circumstances and relying
on our feelings or instead trusting.
Feelings can deceive, but trust and hope in the right source will never fail.

we can find peace if we don`t concentrate on the stormy waves
and look unto Jesus.

God promised to take care of all our needs
and he has wonderful plans for each one of us:

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD.
"They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

that´s my decision.
I want to live a life of trust.
holding unto his promises.
and I´m reaching out for it even more in the
new year,
to learn to live this life of trust.
each.new.day.

Isaiah 40:31(NLB)

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
