Roadtrip/2- St.Valery en Caux, Etretat, Honfleur

time runs so fast and in only 2 weeks we are heading out for our this years caravan roadtrip,
but until then as promised the continuation of our last roadtrip tour through the Normandy!
(... for all roadtrip hungry and lovers of caravan and motorhomes,
thatswhy paired with some parking space suggestions and coordinates)
we totallly enjoyed this journey and really fell in love with the Normandy.
and are pretty sure to do this trip some day allover again.

spending a beautiful afternoon and evening in Criel sur mer and after leaving
our parking space for the night with it´s wonderful view (x=50.032183,y=3.2262570)
we
headed out for our next destination:
St. Valery en Caux.
Die Zeit rennt im Eilschritt und in nur 2 Wochen, machen wir uns
auf zu unseren diesjährigen Caravan Roadtrip,
jetzt aber folgt ersteinmal wie schon vor einiger Zeit versprochen ersteinmal
die Fortsetzung unseres letzten Normandie Roadtrips.
(... Für alle Roadtrip-Hungrigen und Caravan- und Wohnmobilliebhaber...
deswegen an dieser Stelle verbunden mit ein paar Stellplatztips und passenden Koordinaten dazu)
Wir haben diese Reise unheimlich genossen und uns sehr in die Normandie verliebt.
Wir sind uns sicher, dass wir diese Route aufjedenfall irgendwann nocheinmal fahren werden.
Nachdem wir einen schönen Nachmittag und Abend in Criel sur Mer verbracht
haben, starten wir nach verlassen des schönen Stellplatzes (x=50.032183,y=3.2262570)
mit toller Aussicht (Meer und Klippen!)
zu unserem nächsten Ziel
St.- Valery en Caux
Here you can find a quite big motorhome parking space
(GPS: N 49° 52` 20,2" E 0° 42` 29,4) along the beautiful cliffside.
Motorhome actually means that these are the only ones allowed and no caravans, like in our case.
The local staff was very accomodatin anyways and made a little exception for us.
Hier gibt es einen großen Wohnmobilstellplatz (GPS: N 49° 52` 20,2" E 0° 42` 29,4)
entlang der schönen Klippen.

Wohnmobil heißt dabei, dass dort auch nur diese erlaubt sind und keine Caravans,
wie in unserem Fall. Das Personal vor Ort war jedoch sehr nett
und hat eine kleine Ausnahme gemacht.

Valery en Caux is a quite medieval city with long history and it`s totally worth to
stroll through the pretty inner city.
An absolutely must also is to visit the one or other cake shop in this region.
The confiserie around here is simply unbeatable and one just really
doesn`t know what goodie to try first!
Valery en Caux ist eine sehr altertümliche Stadt mit langer Geschichte und
es lohnt sich sehr durch den hübschen Stadtkern zu bummeln.
Dabei sollte man unbedingt die ein oder andere Konditorei besuchen.
Das gilt übrigens grundsätzlich für die ganze Normandie.
Die Confisserie hier ist einfach unschlagbar und man weiß gar nicht,
welche Köstlichkeit man als erstes probieren soll!
If you cross the inner city you`ll also find a nice beach section with cliff sight, which you also
can admire from above by the help of some stairs.
After
a a cloudy, rainy but anyways beautiful day in St. Valery we strike
out to one
of the most known touristic attractions of that area,
which nobody should miss, off we go to:

auch von oben bewundern.
Nach einem etwas bewölkt, regnerischen, dennoch sehr schönen Tag in St. Valery
machen wir uns am nächsten Morgen auf zum Touristen Happening schlechthin,
denn dies kann man sich einfach nicht entgehen lassen,
los gehts nach
Etretat
Etretat is known for its beautiful chalk rock formations and its arches
Porte d'Amont, Porte d'Aval und Manneporte.
and one could say that all the magazin pictures keep what they promise,
a walk along the cliffs is simply breathtaking. If you have little ones by your side,
you should be a bit careful because there are no barriers.
for this our good old kid carrier really paid off.
Bekannt ist Etretat natürlich durch seine wunderschönen Kreidefelsforamtionen und die
drei markanten Felsbögen Porte d'Amont, Porte d'Aval und Manneporte.
und man muss schon sagen, die Zeitschriftenbilder halten was sie versprechen.
Ein Spaziergang entlang der Klippen ist wirklich atemberaubend schön.
Bei kleinen Kindern sollte man allerdings Vorkehrungen treffen, da es keinerlei Absperrungen gibt.
Für solche Zwecke macht sich bei unserer Emmi ( die auch etwas lauf faul ist), immer wieder
unsere alte Kraxe durchaus bezahlt

Actually
it´s not that harmless, first of all the tidal range in this area is
happening quite fast
and second like with every chalk cliff you find erosion by the sea water, rain and frost.
Thatswhy you find a lot of warning labels, because you can´t rule out at all
that some boulders come off.
Auch unterhalb der Felsen ist es unheimlich spannend entlang zu wandern.
Dies ist allerdings nicht ganz ungefährlich.
Erstens
sollte man genau den Tidenhub im Auge behalten, der in diesen breiten
sehr schnell und rasant stattfindet und zweitens ist wie bei allen
Kreisefelsküsten auch Etretat nicht verschont von Erosion durch das
Meereswasser, Regen und Frost.
Deswegen
findet man auch ausdrückliche Warnhinweise entlang der Küste, da
grundsätzlich nicht auszuschließen ist, dass sich Feslbrocken davon
lösen.
below the rocks you`ll find some of these pretty polished rocks, tiny rock caves and
some secret bunker ruins which are exposed at low tide.
Unterhalb der Felsen findet man bei Ebbe wunderschön struckturiertes, abgeschlliffenes Gestein,
kleine Felshöhlen und geheime Bunkerruinen die bei Ebbe freigelegt werden.
Also the old town from Etretat is pretty nice, a bit touristic but with quite some charme,
street musicians, little pubs and restaurants definetily worth worth seeing.

Wir werden unseren Ausflug hierhin aufjedenfall in guter Erinnerung behalten.
Übernachtet haben wir übrigens kostenfrei auf diesem Stellplatz:

da die Stellplätze um und in Etretat nicht so besonders schön und auch relativ kostenintensiv sind.
After that the next morning it goes on:
the beautiful hoary seaport
Honfleur is waiting for us!
Danach geht es am nächsten Morgen schon wieder weiter.

erwartet uns !

This pretty sea port place definetily belongs to your to do list when travelling the Normandy.
Not for nothing it was one of the favorite places of the impressionists in the 19th century.
Even today you can spy some artists around the wharf, you can stroll through the beautiful old medieval
lanes. there are many pretty shops and cafés and a wonderful old carousel to find.

this beautiful impressions now had to be processed a bit, before we travel to
our next destination to enjoy some quiet days around the history charged
omaha beach region and to the celebrations
of D-Day.
Dieses wunderschöne Hafenstädtchen gehört auf jedenfall auf jede Normandiereiseliste.
Nicht umsonst war es im 19.Jahrhundert Lieblingsort vieler Impressionisten.
Noch heute sieht man die Maler am Kai und man kann durch die wunderschönen mittelalterlichen Gassen schlendern und es gibt viele schöne Läden und hübsche Cafe´s und ein wunderschönes altes Karussell.
Diese vielen Eindrücke müssen wir erstmal setzen lassen.
Wir übernachten bevor uns unsere Reise als nächstes zu den geschichtsträchtigen Landungsstränden
und den D-Day Festlichkeiten führt ...
